Take a Hike
Hiking is very much a part of Scouts BSA. Almost every Cub Scout level has a hiking requirement, but it's also one of our favorite adventures. We've created a virtual suburban hike to meet COVID and been to countless locations in Massachusetts to enjoy this favorite pastime. This year we enjoyed a hike at the Horn Pond in Woburn. Depending on a Scout's rank requirement and ability, Scouts were able to take the 1 or 3 mile option. In the past, we have had other Stoneham hikes, adventured into Great Brook Farm State Park, explored a pirate legend within the Lynn Woods, made our way through Burlington's Landlocked Forest, trekked on and off road at Breakheart Reservation, and so many more. Every year, we try to bring our adventures to a new location to make a new exploration a possibility.
Of course, the adventure is the highlight of the trek; however, teaching moments are also key. Scouts are taught to be responsible in nature and to be safe. The Six Essentials, the Leave No Trace Principles, and the Outdoor Code are all practiced and explained so that Scouts can learn how to be safe in their outdoor adventures. Come hike with Cub Scout Pack 105 Burlington, MA.
